A DAY OF BEAUTYREVEALING MY NATURAL SELF. This album is my transition from braided extension styles to all natural styles. |
| The transition is not complete until you have learned to love your naps... |
I have been natural for a while.
I twist my hair or I braid it and wear it out like u had in your pics.
I was wondering how you get your curl pattern so defined?
What do you recommend as far as shampoos and your pre shampoo???
I was curious because you mentioned that apple cider vinegar might restore the natural curl pattern would it also do so on relaxed hair? I am thinking of transitioning to a more natural style but i have tried before and always chickened out after 8 months or so but i really would like to try totally natural so i am thinking of biting the bullet this time.
Please check out www.sisterlocks.com .
Good luck!

Nic,
Playing the piano??? Now that takes talent that I dont have, LOL. Cornrowing? Well, yes it does take practice, but you could start out with twostrand flat twists which I find much easier to do. The only problem is that they have to be secured at the end with a rubberband. Anyway, good luck!

Nic,
LOL, you killin me!!! Cathy Howse conditioner is strengthening, moisturizing and stimulating. You mix a protein conditioner (like hair mayonaise, not aphogee) with coconut oil, olive oil, and a few drops of a stimulating oil like peppermint, teatree, rosemary, or cinnamon. So Nic, get to work in the kitchen girl, hook it up!!! It is really refreshing !

Nic,
Aphogee makes a protein reconstructor which gets EXTREMELY hard with heat; crunchy hard. After washing out that conditioner, they recommend a balancing/moisturizing conditioner which the sell (and I dont use). The benefits of the protein conditioner are super strong sheeny hair, but you MUST use a moisturizing conditioner after using the protein conditioner or your hair will be brittle.

Nesse,
I think that maybe you have to get used to the "sheeniness" of natural hair. My hair only appears to have so much shine b/c of the camera flash. to keep the style for a couple of days, I just put it into 10-20 twists and wrapped it up. But I was not concerned with the frizziness or neatness of the style (b/c it did get frizzy). My primary style was the puff or twists, not this style. Good luck on your natural journey, feel free to email me with any other questions.

Oh, congrats on your sisterlocking adventure...your hair looks GREAT both ways! I'm sure you will find many exciting ways to hook the looks up, just like you did with your "loose" hair. Can't wait to see!

Thanks again Nic, I am enjoying my sisterloc journey and loving my locs more everyday!

I have question for you. How long your hair in inches?
Thanks! The last time I measured my blow dried hair(which was awhile ago) it was 22 inches from forehead to back and individual strands were 13-15 inches.

Yasmin, the only suggestion I have is trying an apple cider vinegar rinse. Some women believe that it restores the hair's natural curl pattern. HTH!
