    Preshampoo treatment

    Hello
I have been natural for a while.
I twist my hair or I braid it and wear it out like u had in your pics.
I was wondering how you get your curl pattern so defined?
What do you recommend as far as shampoos and your pre shampoo???

    Preshampoo treatment

    Hi
I was curious because you mentioned that apple cider vinegar might restore the natural curl pattern would it also do so on relaxed hair? I am thinking of transitioning to a more natural style but i have tried before and always chickened out after 8 months or so but i really would like to try totally natural so i am thinking of biting the bullet this time.

    Cornrows

TIGHT! You are gonna make me do what I HATE to do...practice! Currently, I don't do ANY styles that require practice (don't have time or patience for practice), but I WISH I COULD CORNROW MY OWN HAIR! Now, all you need to do is post a picture of you playing the piano...then I'd REALLY be in trouble (cuz I don't practice that like I should either!)

    nappynic:-)

    Nic,

Playing the piano??? Now that takes talent that I dont have, LOL. Cornrowing? Well, yes it does take practice, but you could start out with twostrand flat twists which I find much easier to do. The only problem is that they have to be secured at the end with a rubberband. Anyway, good luck!

    My hair color and conditioner

You mix the color with the conditioner? What exactly is Cathy Howse? I know y'all be mixing stuff up and what not, but I am CLUE-LESS about homemeade concoctions...remedial version please?

    nappynic:-)

    Nic,

LOL, you killin me!!! Cathy Howse conditioner is strengthening, moisturizing and stimulating. You mix a protein conditioner (like hair mayonaise, not aphogee) with coconut oil, olive oil, and a few drops of a stimulating oil like peppermint, teatree, rosemary, or cinnamon. So Nic, get to work in the kitchen girl, hook it up!!! It is really refreshing !

    Rock hard hair

Would you mind explaining the benefits of this treatment? What exactly did it do for your hair? I think I tried a pack of the sample size from Sally's, but it may not have been the same cuz my hair didn't get hard...

    nappynic:-)

    Nic,

Aphogee makes a protein reconstructor which gets EXTREMELY hard with heat; crunchy hard. After washing out that conditioner, they recommend a balancing/moisturizing conditioner which the sell (and I dont use). The benefits of the protein conditioner are super strong sheeny hair, but you MUST use a moisturizing conditioner after using the protein conditioner or your hair will be brittle.

    me...

This looks really good. I tried this method.(My hair comes about 5 shoulders when straight. I love the wavy look, but my problem is not keeping it shiny because with adding oils and gel that is fine. My problem is that what kind of hairstyle can I wear? the first time I tried it, my mother loved it. I had the front up and the back down. That was nice. Also how did you keep the style for the next day. I did it again (curled it under with curlers and added gel and it was too curly, horrible.) Help me if you can. Thanks in advance.

    Nesse,

I think that maybe you have to get used to the "sheeniness" of natural hair. My hair only appears to have so much shine b/c of the camera flash. to keep the style for a couple of days, I just put it into 10-20 twists and wrapped it up. But I was not concerned with the frizziness or neatness of the style (b/c it did get frizzy). My primary style was the puff or twists, not this style. Good luck on your natural journey, feel free to email me with any other questions.

This is REALLY PRETTY! Ditto to Tina's comment...CAN'T WAIT!

Oh, congrats on your sisterlocking adventure...your hair looks GREAT both ways! I'm sure you will find many exciting ways to hook the looks up, just like you did with your "loose" hair. Can't wait to see!

    nappynic:-)

Thanks again Nic, I am enjoying my sisterloc journey and loving my locs more everyday!

    Blow dried out

    Your hair looks great.

I have question for you. How long your hair in inches?

Thanks! The last time I measured my blow dried hair(which was awhile ago) it was 22 inches from forehead to back and individual strands were 13-15 inches.

    Preshampoo treatment

i have been natural for a year and a few months but i seem that i can't get the afro affect that everbody has like it grows sofar hall-up and the ends straight a little. It is making me mad cause i am always cutting it hoping that it will grow the way I want it. Since I straighten it once the straighten didn't come out completely. CAN U HELP ME!!!!!!!

Yasmin, the only suggestion I have is trying an apple cider vinegar rinse. Some women believe that it restores the hair's natural curl pattern. HTH!

When you spray your hair with water it just gets fuzzier. Use a braid spray and keep them tied down (especially at night).

Thanks sis! I have used braid spray, but the I make a spray which is mostly water that works great for me...
