Hi,that's great that your hair grew that quickly. I just decided that I want to get rid of my perm.Any suggestions for someone just starting out. What type of hairstyles would you suggest. What about braids?
Your hair is beautiful. I'm growing my hair out as well naturally. I have been at it for 1 year. I cut all the perm off and keep it braided. I wore micros for the 1st year now, I'm expermenting with new styles, like cornrows. I'm going to keep it up for quite sometime. I need help with styles.
Hi Robin,
Thanks for stopping by. I basically grew my hair out with micros, cornrows, and other protective styles. One caution...watch your hairline. I have suffered from some real hairloss related to the style options I chose.
It only took you three years to grow your hair to that length!? WoW!!! I've been natural since March of 2001. I have about 4 to 5 inches of nw growth (natural hair) at the moment.......I dont know if what I'm doing to it will make it grow even more ( I use this product called DOO GRO...it seems to be working) but Im wondering what do you use to get your hair to the length that it is and Im sure itll keep growing and growing. I dont want to get dreads or anything.......perming it doesnt do anything for me. The last time I had a perm it begin to fall out...not in chunks but i thought i had cancer or something.....i guess the women that was doing my hair for the longest didnt do a good job.....my friend that i sent her to even told me that when she did her hair, it started to fall out too.
Sidiqat,
First, thanks for stopping by our site. As for my hair growth, I kept my hair in protective styles like braids and cornrows for years in order to gain the length you see in the pictures. Additionally, i follow a reasonably balanced diet and I take a multivitamin. No heat styling, scarf at night, and condition, condition, condition. That's it!

Hey Tara, Yes, we go way back to the beggining days at BHSGO! Thank you for the compliments! :)
Naturallynursey, your hair looks so beautiful like this. I love seeing people with long natural hair when it is blowdried or straightened and seeing how much more healthy it is than permed hair.
How long did it take you to obtain this length?
Thank you, Alex :) I have been growing my hair for nearly three years. How do you currently wear your hair?
Your hair looks healthy and beautiful and it's growing. Care to share your routine? If you stick with what you are doing, really, can you imagine the end of 2002,... 2004?
Thank you Mahailalee...
I have been wearing my hair in either cornrows or braids and I use my own homemade grease, oil, and spray to keep them fresh...I am looking forward to seeing how long it will grow :)
